How Can we fund the journey to net zero (webinar)

The EU aims to be climate-neutral by 2050 – an economy with net-zero greenhouse gas emissions and the availability of grant funding for this is key.

This objective is at the heart of the European Green Deal and in line with the EU’s commitment to global climate action under the Paris Agreement. It’s estimated that the built environment accounts for approximately 40% of energy consumption and 36% of CO2 emissions in the EU. That’s why sustainable, climate-proofed buildings are needed – on a massive scale – to meet the targets set out for 2020, 2030, and achieve a climate-neutral Europe by 2050.

So how can you fund this journey to net-zero over the next 30 years? What grant funding options are available?

Why it’s so difficult to agree on matters of sustainability

The following is a short essay I wrote earlier this year as part of my M.Sc. studies at Kiel University. It provides a brief introduction to the challenges around (the lack of) a universal meaning of 'sustainability' and 'sustainable development' and a quick overview of different schools of thought (narratives) around those terms.
