The UK and Germany have signed off a significant programme of R&D grant support for collaborative innovation projects. Business and Academia will benefit from this agreement that “turbo-charges” an already well-established collaboration between the UK and Germany.
This is particularly interesting to us at Venturenomix because we have:
- UK and German offices (London and Hamburg)
- Experience in writing both UK and German innovation grants – and winning
- Extensive network of partners and contacts in both the UK and Germany
The new agreement was announced by the UK Science and Technology Secretary Michelle Donelan, and German Federal Minister of Education and Research Bettina Stark-Watzinger. Here is the link to the press release if you would like to read further details.
Innovate UK has already launched 2 specific R&D grant funds based on collaboration between UK and German businesses, one in 2023 and one in 2024 (live at the time of writing). Funding of up to £500,000 for UK partners, and the same (matched) for German partners. Here is the overview of the grant call:
“Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, will work with The Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz (BMWK), (The Federal Ministry For Economic Affairs And Climate Action), to invest up to £4 million in innovation projects.
The aim of this competition is to enhance UK and German collaborations and capabilities in the emerging fields of technology in our society. This is to develop and deliver new innovations and applications of the technologies across a broad range of sectors.”
